HOUSTON STRONG
Humedad y Melancolia by Ernesto Leon
The distinct meanings that our surroundings impose on our personal and social evolution are manifested, unveiled, and discovered through the visual arts. Whether through landscape, metaphor, or as a protagonist, our surroundings have been a central theme in art.

Inspired by Hurricane Harvey and designed to create environmental and urban design awareness in our cities, HOUSTON STRONG, Humedad y melancolia, presents a selection of sepia and black and white photograps by Ernesto Leon. In this series of work, Leon reveals an artistic and cultural refelction of Houston, reflecting on the dichotomy between man and nature.

In the sepia urban landscapes, Leon reveal -a naturalistic-romantic vision as in the XIX European style among the landscape in geography, provoking a melancholic and timeless experience. While, on the black and white urban landscapes, the atmosphere is represented through a baroque approach, exalting the sense of humidity.

The landscape, as a stage in the work of Ernesto Leon, becomes an expression of sublime and spiritual emotions. In the urban views, he captures the chaos of a contemporary city, and people’s relationship with the landscape.
